Rounds is built to stay out of your business. The record of your nights lives on your phone — not on our servers. This policy explains exactly what that means, what little data leaves your device, and the rights you have over it.
Rounds ("Rounds", "we", "us", "our") is the "rounds" iOS app, provided by Back Of House Systems Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, we are the "data controller" for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at privacy@rounds.club.
Rounds has no user accounts and no backend that stores your personal information. There is nothing to log in to. The things you record in the app — your sessions, the drinks you log, how you felt the next morning, any notes, and your self-reported typical week — are written to a private database on your device (and shared only with the Rounds widget on the same device). That data is not transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Sync is off by default. If you turn on iCloud Sync (Settings › iCloud Sync), Rounds also keeps a copy of your data in your own personal iCloud account so it can appear on your other Apple devices. Some important points:

Where Rounds accesses Apple HealthKit, we handle that data in line with Apple's requirements: it is used only to provide features you can see inside the app, it is not disclosed to third parties, it is not used for advertising or use-based data mining, and it is not stored in iCloud by us. Health data is read on your device and is not transmitted off it. You control this access in the iOS Health app or in Settings, and you can revoke it at any time.
We do not share your personal data except with the service providers ("processors") that make the app work, each acting under their own privacy terms:
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
The usage records described in §3 are designed so that they cannot reasonably be used to identify you, or be linked to you or to a device you use. We commit publicly that we will process this data only in de-identified form, and that we will not attempt to re-identify it or to link it to any individual or device. We contractually require any provider that receives it to meet the same standard and to make the same commitment.
We do not sell this data, and we never share it with advertising networks, attribution providers or data brokers — for any purpose.
Some processors operate outside the UK/EEA (for example, RevenueCat in the United States). Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision where one applies.
On-device data (sessions, drinks, feelings, notes, health data used in the app) is kept for as long as you keep it. You can erase all of it at any time in Settings › Erase all data, and deleting the app removes it. If you turned usage sharing on, those de-identified records are retained by TelemetryDeck for the period set out in their documentation; because they contain no identifier, they cannot be traced back to you and so cannot be individually retrieved or deleted on request. Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat as needed to administer your subscription and meet legal and accounting obligations.
Because almost everything Rounds records stays on your device, you already hold and control most of your data directly — you can view, edit and delete it in the app. In addition, under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the rights to be informed, of access, to rectification, to erasure, to restrict processing, to data portability, and to object, as well as rights relating to automated decision-making. Rounds does not carry out any solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To exercise any right in relation to data held by our processors, email privacy@rounds.club. We will respond within the time limits set by law (generally one month). If you are in the UK you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA including to know, delete, correct and to opt out of "sale"/"sharing" — noting that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Rounds concerns alcohol and is intended only for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to, and must not be used by, anyone under 18 (or the legal drinking age where they live, if higher). We do not knowingly process data from children.
Your data benefits from the security of your device and iOS (including device encryption and the app sandbox). Data handled by our processors is protected under their own technical and organisational measures. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information and minimise what is collected in the first place.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice in the app or here.
